![]() Last week, the California Department of Social Services issued a Provider Information Notice alerting home care organizations that all registered home care aides must be vaccinated against COVID by November 30. There are two exemptions to this rule: Declining vaccination based on religious beliefs or being excused from receiving the vaccine due to qualifying medical reasons.

![]() HCAOA has joined forces with AARP and more than 50 other industry leaders to continue to urge Congress to include a family caregiver tax credit in the final version of the budget reconciliation package. This week, letters were sent to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Republican leader Kevin McCarthy, to applaud the inclusion of a family caregiver tax credit in the legislation approved by the House Ways & Means Committee on September 15. Every agency owner should routinely be asking, ‘is my staffing where it needs to be?’ or ‘which positions do I need to hire for next, and in what order?’. One metric that can help agencies answer this question is shown here—billable hours per care coordinator.

HCAOA extends its congratulations to VA Council member Pamela Soni, Director, Managed Care (MCO), BAYADA Home Health Care, who was recognized as BAYADA’s Federal Ambassador of the Year.
