 HCAOA Associate Member Memory Lane Games, a digital health company specializing in dementia care, was recently honored with the People’s Choice Award at the Inventures 2025 Global Brain Health Challenge, which showcases groundbreaking tech solutions that have the potential to revolutionize patient care, improve medical outcomes, and drive meaningful innovation in brain health. Memory Lane Games stood out for its use of technology and specifically AI to underpin the engagement that people with dementia need to maintain quality of life, earning the admiration of attendees and securing the People’s Choice Award.
 HCAOA's 2024 Caregiver of the Year, Angela Chavez of Gold Star Home Care in Glendale, AZ, was interviewed by Foster Stubbs of McKnights Home Care for their Home Sweet Home series, which is a feature that focuses on heartwarming stories in home care.
In the article, Chavez discusses her journey to becoming a caregiver. She credits her success to the supportive environment at Gold Star and her personal connection with her patients – she values the satisfaction of knowing she’s made a difference in the lives of those she cares for.
HCAOA announced the 2024 National Caregiver of the Year last week at the National Home Care Conference in Seattle/Bellevue. Angela Chavez, a caregiver with Gold Star Home Care in Glendale, AZ, was honored in front of industry leaders. Chavez’s unwavering dedication, compassion, and skill set her apart among more than 500 nominees from all 50 states.
 HCAOA is excited to announce the Top 12 Finalists for the 2024 Caregiver of the Year Award. The overall Caregiver of the Year will be announced at the 2024 HCAOA National Home Care Conference on October 28, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. The Caregiver of the Year will receive a $2,500 cash award and an all-expenses paid trip to Seattle-Bellevue, WA, for the conference, where the Caregiver of the Year will be honored in front of industry leaders.
 According to the 2024 Activated Insights Benchmarking Report, over the last two years, the home-based care turnover rate has increased by over 12% to reach a total of 79.2%. Employee recognition can help counter a high turnover rate. This makes it all more important to nominate your caregivers for the HCAOA Caregiver of the Year Award. The HCAOA Connecticut Chapter presented two awards to Chapter leaders Marlene Chickerella and Susan Oderwald during its annual chapter conference last week in Bristol.
 Nominations are now open for the 2024 HCAOA Caregiver of the Year Award. HCAOA encourages EVERY ONE OF OUR 4,300+ member agencies to nominate at least one caregiver deserving of recognition. It's an opportunity to recognize and honor the top caregivers nationwide who provide care and services at home. Their unwavering compassion, dedication, and exemplary service deserve this acknowledgment.
 HCAOA announced the 2023 National Caregiver of the Year last week at the National Home Care Conference in Chicago. Eulodia Ortiz, a dedicated caregiver from Visiting Angels in Matawan, NJ, was recognized in front of more than 700 industry leaders. Eulodia's exceptional commitment to her clients and their families stood out among more than 500 nominees from across nearly all 50 states.
 Last month, HCAOA held a unique roundtable discussion with the Top 16 Finalists for the 2023 Caregiver of the Year Award. This energetic and interactive discussion gave these exceptional caregivers an opportunity to dive deep into the ever-evolving home care industry, providing insight into why they are so passionate about being a caregiver, what recommendations they have to better the home care industry, and how to recruit and retain caregivers. Beyond the insightful discussions, they also relished the opportunity to connect with one another, bonding over their shared love for caregiving.
