The HCAOA Georgia Chapter conference was held last week at The Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta, GA, with more than 80 members registered.

Members in California assembled last week at the California Chapter Conference & Advocacy Day in Sacramento for insightful updates from Jude de la Concepcion and her team from the DSS Home Care Services Bureau on enforcement metrics, the complaint portal, and HCO licensing metrics. Bob King with Legally Nanny provided information on minimum wage updates, the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), paid sick leave, and much more. Assemblymember Alex Lee provided a California legislative update, and Karol Swartzlander, Executive Director of the California Commission on Aging, rounded out the conference as the luncheon guest speaker. The day concluded with HCAOA members meeting with their respective legislators. It was a full and exciting day.

Members in Ohio gathered last week during the HCAOA Ohio Chapter Conference in Columbus to get tips on home care licensure & recertification from Andrea Denning, Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Survey and Certification at the Ohio Department of Health. HCAOA CEO Jason Lee led a roundtable discussion addressing issues that are top of mind for Ohio members. The meeting concluded with an update on advocacy priorities, which included a special election recap and Ohio labor law updates from Dinsmore & Shohl LLP representatives...Jan Hensel, Partner, and Tyler Parrish, Law Clerk.

HCAOA announced the 2024 National Caregiver of the Year last week at the National Home Care Conference in Seattle/Bellevue. Angela Chavez, a caregiver with Gold Star Home Care in Glendale, AZ, was honored in front of industry leaders.
