At the start of 2026, the VA implemented new rate structures in Texas and New Mexico that reduced rates by 19 to 43 percent. These lower rates apply to G0156 (Home Health Aide) and S5130 (Homemaker) codes.

On Friday, November 21, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs released the 2026 VA Fee Schedule, effective January 1, 2026. Unlike recent years, the schedule does not include an across-the-board 3% inflationary increase.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has announced a date change for the scheduled maintenance of the Texas Unified Licensure Information Portal (TULIP). Please review the updated timeline and action steps below, as this outage may affect your ability to submit applications, renewals, and incident reports. The HCAOA Texas Chapter will hold its inaugural meeting on the afternoon of Sunday, October 19 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas Hotel – the day before HCAOA kicks off the 2025 National Home Care Conference in our home state. Last Friday, U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan of the United States District Court, Eastern District of Texas, issued a permanent injunction against a Biden administration overtime pay rule aimed at expanding eligibility to millions of salaried workers, halting the implementation of a rule that could have significantly impacted the home care industry and its workforce. Dallas-based healthcare private equity firm Havencrest Capital Management has announced the establishment of Avid Health at Home, a non-medical home care platform, following its acquisition of Chicago-based For Papa's Sake Home Care (FPS). FPS, a prominent provider of non-medical home care in the greater Chicago area, has earned recognition for its excellence, including being ranked as the #1 agency in North America by Home Care Pulse in 2022. Led by Havencrest Operating Partner Jen Lentz, Avid aims to offer quality person-to-person care through innovative technology and industry best practices.
