HCAOA is looking for volunteers to serve on workgroups for the Home Care Workforce Action Alliance, which was formed in May by HCAOA and the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) to make recommendations to address the critical home care aide and nurse workforce shortage. Anyone interested in being part of this national industry effort should send their name, agency, and contact information to [email protected] no later than August 1. This work will entail zoom meetings from September-November, with final recommendations completed by December. These recommendations will be shared with members of Congress, federal officials, and other interested stakeholders. “This is the number one issue for our association, and we’re hoping to not only have recommendations but also tactics to implement those recommendations,” said HCAOA CEO Vicki Hoak. “It’s important to hear the voices of agency owners and we’re looking to address the following issues as they relate to home care aides: wages and benefits, elevating the profession, education and career paths and supply and demand.”

I am interested in serving on the Workforce Action Alliance in the hopes that many minds are better than one. The workforce shortage is a threat to all home-based care. The real "losers" in the situation are the clients who can't get the care they need and I'm happy to work with other to find a solution (or at least a little bit of relief) to this crisis.
