Tennessee…Your Help is Needed NOW! Support Legislation for Enhanced Medication Access

An important bill that will permit caregivers who have completed a competency-based training program to administer certain medications to individuals unable to self-administer is scheduled for a vote TODAY, Wednesday, February 7, and HCAOA is asking all members in Tennessee to voice your support. Sen. Becky Massey and Rep. Rebecca Alexander have recently introduced SB1793 and HB2081, respectively.

Existing limitations prevent aids employed by Personal Support Services Agencies from administering essential medication to clients. These bills seek to align the medication administration authority of Direct Services Providers (DSPs) serving the CHOICES and OPTIONS programs with those already authorized in other care settings.
