The Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) congratulates Xavier Becerra on his Senate confirmation for the position of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary. “We look forward to working with Secretary Becerra as more focus is devoted to home and community-based care,” said HCAOA Executive Director Vicki Hoak. “Now more than ever, we want to ensure that home care’s voice is heard in Medicaid policy decisions as well as expanding benefits under Medicare Advantage plans.” During his twelve terms in Congress, Attorney General Becerra spent much of his time working on health-related issues impacting U.S. citizens as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee.
As a Congressman, Becerra was advocate for access to health care services. He also brings his experience as an administrator having run the California Department of Justice since 2017. In this position he addressed an array of health and other matters that prepare him well to handle the significant challenges of running an agency as large and diverse as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
