Record-Breaking Crowd Coming to Washington, D.C. - Not Able to Make It? Participate Virtually!3/22/2023 National Home Care Advocacy Day is next week, and plans are being finalized to make each HCAOA member’s visit memorable. Meetings with legislators are scheduled and plans are set for the Welcome Reception on March 28 and an Opening Session on Capitol Hill on March 29. If you can’t make the trip to Washington, you can still advocate with your respective U.S. Representative and U.S. Senators by sending a virtual message asking for their support. Next week, HCAOA members will be advocating for the Department of Veterans Affairs to spend the same amount on noninstitutional care as institutional care for veterans, as part of the Elizabeth Dole Home Care Act (S.141/H.R.542). Members will also push for support for HCBS Access Act (S.762) and Better Care Better Jobs (S.100), which increase access to home care for thousands of low-income individuals by changing eligibility requirements, mandating HCBS, increasing direct care worker wages, and improving training.
HCAOA has drafted a message for you, so participate in our advocacy efforts from your desk! All you have to do is enter your name and home address and click send! HCAOA will send the message out with a reminder on March 29.

Veterans who use the Douglas County, Oregon VA are already struggling to access health care. Please make a real commitment to support them at home, with home-based primary care, home health and hospice, and in home caregiving, which helps them with daily personal care.
