New York Reminder: New Minimum Wage

7/20/2022

A reminder to all New York members that effective October 1, 2022, the hourly minimum wage for home care aides will increase by $2.00 to $17.00/hour. The wage parity benefit portions remain at $4.09 (New York City) and $3.22 (Long Island and Westchester).
For New York City, the rates will increase to $21.09 per hour of total compensation, which would consist of a minimum base wage of $17.00 per hour and supplemental (benefit) wages of $4.09 per hour. For Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties, the rate will increase to $20.22 per hour of total compensation, which would consist of a minimum base wage of $17.00 per hour and supplemental (benefit) wages of $3.22 per hour.

Agencies currently paying aides more than the minimum wage will need to increase benefits to the wage parity package in October.

Hello, please clarify if the hourly rate is mandated to increase $2 per hour or is it a benefit that has to be offered like insurance, which the aides already have.

The minimum wage for PCAs was $13.20. Now it is $15.20 in upstate NY. You will only get an increase to $15.20, not $2 on top of what you make.

Glad its finally increasing. Low pay is why theres such a shortage of aides.
