Last week, the Illinois Board of Health’s Rules Committee met and voted to approve the draft home service rules, per the IDPH liaison. The draft rules will not advance to the full board for review during its meeting on December 9. The HCAOA Illinois State Chapter has been working extensively to expand the scope of services that home care services providers may do. The Chapter developed a list of services they believe home care workers should be able to provide under their current license. The Chapter worked with the Illinois Department of Public Health and Senator Bill Cunningham (D-18), who sponsored legislation to support this effort, to ensure home care aides are able to practice to the full extent of the initial licensure legislation passed several years ago.
Stay tuned for updates on this important initiative.
