​ILLINOIS: Earn Required CEUs for Certified Dementia Practitioners at Chapter Conference

​Certified Dementia Practitioners in Illinois are required to earn ongoing continuing education credits. The HCAOA Illinois Chapter is offering a pre-conference advanced dementia training module on November 8. This session will be facilitated by Aishling Dalton Kelly, CEO, Aishling Home Care & Aishling Care Academy. All attendees will earn 3 CEUs.   

Breaking down the basics of the course:

• Review and understand principles of health disparities, cultural competence, and the impact on aging individuals to facilitate dialog and interaction.
• Explore the continuing impact of dementia on our aging society.
• Identify the contribution of chronic illness and the aging process to the behaviors of individuals with dementia.
• Explore the use of technology in engaging individuals with dementia.
• Discuss the concepts of capacity versus competency regarding decision making for the individual with dementia.
• Identify ethical issues in advanced care planning and end of life decision making, discuss best practices in facilitating end of life conversations with individuals with dementia and their caregivers.
