![]() As many HCAOA members have experienced firsthand, the pandemic has fueled the demand for caregivers in people’s homes. Between March 2020 and January 2021, the demand for home care grew by 125%. By the year 2028, the U.S. will need an estimated 5.8 billion direct care workers - which is more jobs than any other occupation. To provide more background on this growing profession, the mission-driven organization, The Commonwealth Fund, released the latest edition of a quarterly publication called, Transforming Care. One article features a detailed Q&A with three direct care workers themselves, a section highlighting new innovations in caregiver training, and more. This edition profiles efforts by employers and states to recognize and reward direct care workers for their vital role in the health care continuum.
