The West Virginia Direct Care Task Force, an initiative of AARP-West Virginia and the Department of Health and Human Services, has been working to develop legislative and regulatory recommendations to increase the state’s direct-care workforce, and improve recruitment and retention. HCAOA West Virginia Chapter members Matt Walker and Eric Hicks participated on the AARP Direct Care Taskforce. The Task Force worked hard to ensure nothing would be burdensome on agencies and that reimbursement enhancements and optional participation were always possibilities.
Last week, a presentation of recommendations from the Task Force was shared with West Virginia lawmakers. Don’t miss the first HCAOA West Virginia Chapter meeting of 2023! Learn more about the chapter’s plans for the year, federal and state legislative updates, and how data about caregivers can help with recruiting at the virtual WV Chapter meeting on January 31, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., EST.
