To better understand how Guardian is affecting home care providers’ and owners’ ability to hire and run their agencies in California, HCAOA recently surveyed its members and the responses were overwhelmingly negative. Read our findings below.
Armed with this important data, HCAOA and our lobbyists in Sacramento are advocating for timely changes to the Guardian system. Speak in person with DSS about your concerns at our upcoming HCAOA California Chapter meetings in early November. Jennifer Niklas, Chief of the Home Care Services Bureau, California Department of Social Services (DSS), will share a regulatory update and take questions from attendees. Attendees will also hear a state legislative and political update from Tony Gonzalez and Carl London, California Chapter Lobbyists, and a national update from HCAOA CEO Vicki Hoak. November 1 - Northern California – In Person 9:30 a.m. – 12 noon Registration fee: $75 for members, $150 for non-members. Breakfast provided. November 2 - Southern California – In Person 9:30 a.m. – 12 noon Registration fee: $75 for members, $150 for non-members. Breakfast provided. Mask wearing is required, as the host facility is a congregant senior living community. Covid vaccination cards or negative test result within 48 hours will be requested.
