Recently, HCAOA Washington Chapter Chair Sharla Bode held a meeting to discuss the state of the home care industry and home care’s workforce crisis with State Representative Kelly Chambers (R-25th). Rep. Chambers expressed great interest in helping HCAOA remove barriers to Home Care Aide (HCA) certification and bring more HCAs into the industry.
Rep. Chambers also mentioned that she and her team plan to follow up with Bode and the HCAOA Washington Chapter to obtain further suggestions for regulatory and legislative improvements. Following the meeting, Bode shared her findings with HCAOA CEO Vicki Hoak, VP of Government Relations Eric Reinarman, and Washington Chapter lobbyist Leslie Emerick. They strategized ways to strengthen ties with Rep. Chambers and Washington State legislators. HCAOA continues to develop relationships with Washington state legislators to advocate for member home care providers.
