![]() This week, HCAOA submitted comments to the Senate Aging Committee on the proposed Home and Community-Based Services Access Act of 2021, which would require home and community-based services to be covered under Medicaid. In the comments, HCAOA’s Policy and Regulatory Committee, which drafted the comments, focused on two key areas: increasing access to quality care and supporting a robust home care workforce. “This was a great team effort of our Policy Committee and our Board, said Vick Hoak. We look forward to having more conversations about this proposal and are very grateful for Matt Boever and Veronica Charles in leading this effort.

I think more funds should be diverted from nursing home care and into the community. I also believe families should be eligible to be paid by medicaid to care for their parents.
