HCAOA Sends Letter on Behalf of Members to CMS Regarding Medicare Advantage

Recently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services asked industry stakeholders for their thoughts on how to strengthen Medicare Advantage (MA) plans in ways that align with CMS’ Vision for Medicare and their Strategic Pillars. As more and more MA plans include home care in their offerings, HCAOA made it a priority to send extensive comments to CMS—which you can read here.

​HCAOA’s comments primarily focused on the importance of:
- Increasing the prevalence of MA plans that include home care,
- Helping enrollees understand what each plan actually covers, and
- Ensuring MA plans only use agencies that train, supervise and background check caregivers.
 
Many of the comments shared are in alignment with the policy priorities shared in the State of Home Care: Industry at a Crossroads report—specifically the priority to embed home care in the healthcare ecosystem and finance care in an era of rising longevity.
