HCAOA is pleased to announce a new partnership with  ATI Advisory to offer members state-specific data on the Medicare Advantage landscape to pinpoint which plans are offering home care as a benefit, and how they can get connected. This unique program includes the full state report and two free webinars with the team at ATI Advisory to develop your agency’s action plan to work with Medicare Advantage plans.

According to a recent article in Home Health Care News, the number of people utilizing Medicare Advantage (MA) plans has skyrocketed over recent years. CMS data show that in 2020 there were over 24 million Medicare Advantage members in the U.S., which is more than twice the amount there were in 2010 and nearly five times the amount in 2005. Home care is covered under Medicare Advantage and with more MA plans than ever before, home care providers have an opportunity to offer services to a larger population. However, Home Healthcare News notes that, “Home-based care agencies are undoubtedly worthy in the continuum of care, but each provider has to prove its value to health plans looking to reduce costs and provide better care for their members.”

What do Medicare Advantage plans want from home care providers? The answer is proving the value of in-home services with data. However, data collection is easier said than done for most home care agencies. Many providers do not have the abilities to invest in data collection or haven’t found it useful for patient care. Home Care Pulse found that “75% of home care agencies did not track readmission rates at all in 2019. Of the 25% that did, it was often rudimentary data tracking.”

ATI’s Medicare Advantage Supplemental Benefits State Report includes ATI’s research on Medicare Advantage plans’ benefit packages to enable providers to quickly and easily learn the county-level benefit offerings, such as in-home support services.
