HCAOA CEO Praises $150 Billion Earmarked for Home- and Community-Based Services in Biden Budget3/15/2023 Last week, President Joe Biden introduced his fiscal year budget proposal, which would “… invest $150 billion over 10 years to improve and expand Medicaid home- and community-based services… which would allow older Americans and individuals with disabilities to remain in their homes and stay active in their communities, as well as improve the quality of jobs for home care workers.” (source: White House Budget Fact Sheet) HCAOA CEO Vicki Hoak praised the HCBS funding in the budget, saying “HCAOA is grateful to have a president who continues to recognize the value of home care. This budget demonstrates the commitment to ensure all Americans have the opportunity to age in their own homes, living as independently as possible.” “As we prepare for National Home Care Advocacy Day on March 29, HCAOA and our members will be advocating for increased funding for home- and community-based services and for supports for family caregivers by urging legislators’ support of the Elizabeth Dole Act, the Better Care Better Jobs Act, and the new HCBS Access Act,” Hoak said.
