HCAOA members may have read about the cyber attack on Change Healthcare. Many healthcare providers, including those servicing Medicaid or Veterans through the VA Community Care Network, either submit claims to a portal or directly to Change Healthcare, which processes the claims and facilitates payment. In the wake of the attack, Change Healthcare disconnected claim submission platforms. HCAOChange Healthcare parent company UnitedHealth Group is providing updates on the following page: https://www.unitedhealthgroup.com/changehealthcarecyberresponse
It has been reported by Change Healthcare that a resolution will take at least a number of weeks to implement. State Medicaid Waiver Developments: State Medicaid agencies and their Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) that utilized Change Healthcare in the claims process are developing interim solutions and communicating directly with providers. Affected members will want to carefully monitor any provider portals or email updates from the state or the MCOs that manage the state Medicaid provider networks. Providers will want to carefully document claims submitted versus claims paid and keep the payer informed of any discrepancies until all payments are recouped. Veteran Affairs Community Care Network (VACCN) Developments: Members that participate in the VACCN either contract with Optum or TriWest to provide home care to veterans. Some members may utilize Change Healthcare for claim submission, which is currently unavailable. If needed, affected VACCN providers that contract with Optum can use XpressClaim at no cost to submit claims. This is available through Optum’s VACCN provider portal: https://www.myvaccn.com/site/vaccn/main/public/login#/home Providers that contract with TriWest can use Availity to submit claims at no cost. Availity provides an informational platform for providers and also claims processing. Instructions and training are available on the Availity site: https://apps.availity.com/availity/web/public.elegant.login How can members check the status of claims? Providers can log in to their accounts on either the Optum VACCN website if they contract with Optum or Availity if they contract with TriWest to review and monitor claim status. HCAOA members should keep in mind that this is a fluid situation.
