President Biden announced new requirements for federal employees and onsite federal contractors regarding vaccination status, masking, and social distancing. All federal employees must either show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or unvaccinated workers must continue to wear a mask, practice physical distancing, and comply with weekly testing. These employees are also subject to travel restrictions. What does this mean for direct care workers contracted with the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network? Last week, Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough announced he will make COVID-19 vaccines mandatory for Title 38 VA health care personnel, which does not include home care providers contracted with the VA Community Care Network (CCN). HCAOA urges members to educate their caregivers about the importance of vaccination, but at this time it is not mandated by the VA CCN. The White House has issued a fact sheet announcing new actions to get more Americans vaccinated.
