A Message from HCAOA’s CEO, Jason Lee

​It is an incredible honor and a privilege to join the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) and serve you and your colleagues as CEO.

Home care is deeply personal to me, and I have seen its benefits firsthand. My family relied upon home care services just a few weeks ago for my mother and autistic brother while my father was traveling to assist my aunt. It was reassuring for my entire family to know that my mother and brother were receiving exemplary care in the comfort of their own home. I know you have your own personal stories about the value of home care as well.

We stand on the precipice of an incredible challenge. The ratio of available family caregivers is decreasing exponentially. The dearth of direct care workers is well-documented. Meanwhile, the population of adults 65 years of age and older is projected to double in the coming decade. Now is the time to address the rapidly growing demand for care, as well as the shortfalls in available care, particularly for older Americans.

Yet, we are emboldened because we have so much opportunity ahead of us. We have essential roadmaps such as the State of Home Care: Industry at a Crossroads and the Home Care Workforce Crisis reports. Together, we can grow the workforce, establish national standards of care, leverage data to highlight the importance of home care, make home care part of the healthcare ecosystem, support our caregivers, enhance government and private sector financing, and address immigration to bolster the workforce. We will build upon our advocacy successes on the federal and state levels. We will tell our story and articulate the value of home care to a broad spectrum of audiences, particularly those served by our direct care workers and home care nurses.

Please know that I am here to serve you. I am committed to ensuring that you find incredible value in your membership. And I am here to listen to you, as your voice is indispensable as we evolve to meet your needs.
