After coordinating with a broad cross section of members and recognizing the strength in collaboration, HCAOA teamed up with the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) to develop and submit formal comments to CMS on the Medicaid HCBS proposed rule released in May. Both associations are supportive of many of the provisions in the proposed rulemaking, however did offer suggestions to improve several provisions.

Last week, the bipartisan, bicameral Assisting Caregivers Today (ACT) Caucus was re-launched by Caucus Co-Chairs Sens. Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Reps. Jen Kiggans (R-VA) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI). The ACT Caucus will provide education about the challenges family caregivers face and advocate for policies that support them.
Effective July 1, 2023, the Connecticut Department of Social Services, in response to the increase in the minimum wage, is increasing rates by 4.9% for several Home and Community Based waiver service providers, the Department announced in a policy bulletin on June 30. The programs include the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders and Personal Care Assistance.
All members in Florida are invited to the HCAOA Florida Chapter Conference on Thursday, August 10 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. This conference will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Lake Buena Vista South, 4955 Kyngs Heath Road, Kissimmee, FL.
Last week, a new report by Avalere Health and commissioned by Better Medicare Alliance was released examining health outcomes and characteristics of Medicare Advantage and Fee-for-Service Medicare beneficiaries with certain chronic conditions, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes.
