Caregiving wasn't always easy for Josie. She immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines where she had worked in cartography. A family member encouraged her to get a job as a caregiver, and she struggled with the language barrier and cultural differences. Josie's story is one of perseverance. She did not give up, and she took an active approach to learning the profession and to learn English. Josie now keeps a scrapbook of all of the cards, letters and short notes of appreciation her clients, families and the agency have given her over the years. She shares these with her family with pride. She said," I don't expect clients or families to necessarily notice some of the small things I do, but when they do, it gives me great happiness. You feel you've really accomplished something. The little things have big impact!"
