2024 Board of Directors Candidate Form
Nomination Deadline: September 29, 2023
In order to ensure that the Board Members have the experience and expertise to direct and guide the Association, the following minimum criteria will be in effect for all candidates:
Purpose, Expectations and Terms of Office: As with any organization, the HCAOA Board of Directors is the governing body of the association. In addition to its fiduciary responsibility, it has the authority to establish policy, mission, vision and direction of the HCAOA. All board members are expected to serve on at least one association committee or as a state chapter liaison.
Attendance at quarterly board meetings is required. No more than two (non-emergency) absences are permitted and must be approved in advance by the Board President. Board meeting dates are set for the following year no later than December 1. Therefore, board members are encouraged to place these important meetings on their calendar one year in advance.
Board of Directors Meetings: Board members are expected to attend all quarterly meetings of the board of directors, which are held in different locations across the country. Travel and accommodations are the responsibility of each board member. A December virtual meeting will also be held to approve the following year’s budget.
Term of Office: The term of office for a Director is 3 years. Board elections will be conducted via electronic voting with the successful candidates announced in November. Terms of office begin in January 2024-December 2026. Each Director is limited to no more than 2 consecutive three-year terms.
- Must be on the leadership team of a member agency
- Must be an HCAOA member for at least three years
- Must anticipate being available to actively serve during the entire three-year term
- A minimum of three (3) years of home and community-based care experience preferred
- A minimum of two (2) years of involvement with HCAOA, including state chapters, national committee, education or task force
