Today, the HCAOA West Virginia Chapter extended its gratitude on behalf of members to Governor Morrisey and the State Legislature for their forward-thinking action to increase provider reimbursement rates for in-home care. This decision marks a significant investment in the state's healthcare infrastructure, directly supporting the thousands of caregivers who serve West Virginia’s seniors and residents with disabilities. Home and community-based services (HCBS) provide a cost-effective and compassionate alternative to institutionalization, allowing West Virginians to age and recover in the security of their own homes. The success of this model is entirely dependent on a stable and professional workforce. With the proper workforce, home and community-based services can save West Virginia taxpayers millions of dollars annually.
“We sincerely thank Governor Morrisey and the Legislature for their leadership. This is a vital step toward establishing an annualized rate adjustment for home and community-based services,” said Eric Hicks, President of the HCAOA West Virginia Chapter. “This adjustment is essential to ensure our dedicated workforce receives competitive pay, bringing their wages in line with other industries and with rates in neighboring states. A stable, well-compensated caregiver workforce is the key to unlocking massive savings for the state and providing the highest quality of care.” By addressing reimbursement rates, state leaders are helping to stabilize the home care workforce, ensuring that all West Virginians have access to the care they need in the setting they prefer. As always, thank you for being a valuable member of the HCAOA WV Chapter and assisting in our advocacy efforts!
