Opportunity for Michigan DCWs to Participate in Credentialing Pilot Testing

We are sharing an important, time-sensitive opportunity from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and its partners to help advance the professionalization of Michigan’s direct care workforce.

MDHHS is working with the Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW), Global Skills Exchange (GSX), and dozens of direct care workers to develop a new industry-recognized Certified Direct Care Worker credential. This work builds on Michigan’s 15 DCW Core Competency Guidelines and represents a significant step toward improving training, recognition, and career pathways for direct care workers across the state.

Call for Pilot Testers

The partners are now ready to pilot credentialing tests and are seeking several hundred motivated DCWs with relevant work experience to participate. The pilot tests:

• Will be administered online over three weeks in December 2025
• Can be completed on a computer, tablet, or mobile device
• Will take approximately 5 hours, ideally completed in one sitting
• Will help refine the final test questions before the credential launches
• Do not provide individual test results, but participants will be eligible to take the final credentialing exam in the future

Incentive

Every DCW who completes the very brief Interest Form by December 1, 2025, will be entered into a drawing for one of fifty $100 gift cards.
