Yesterday, Vice President Kamala Harris announced a new proposal to expand Medicare coverage to help cover the cost of home care for seniors. HCAOA is currently analyzing the proposal, but notes that any initiative to shift the focus from institutional care to home-based care is a meaningful step toward closing gaps in the healthcare system. HCAOA CEO Jason Lee said, “The expansion of Medicare to cover broader home care services is essential to support families and older adults who wish to remain at home while receiving care. While further details are forthcoming, this proposal seems to align with HCAOA’s mission to enhance access to quality, affordable home care for seniors and those with disabilities. Any government proposal should seek to ensure that Americans of all financial backgrounds have access to the home care they need.”
McKnight's Home Care reached out to home care industry stakeholders, including HCAOA, for their reaction to the proposal. Read the article HERE.
