HCAOA is closely monitoring potential Medicaid cuts that could occur through the budget process. The U.S. House of Representatives recently proposed a budget resolution that requires the Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees Medicaid, to identify at least $880 billion in mandatory spending cuts over the next 10 years. It would be challenging for the committee to make such a significant cut in spending without cutting Medicaid. These proposed cuts have raised concerns within the home care community, as Medicaid is a crucial funding source for many of our members and the clients they serve. In comparison, the U.S. Senate released its own budget proposal, which does not include the same level of proposed cuts as the House version. This development is significant, as both chambers will need to reconcile their differences before any final budget is passed. However, President Trump has made it clear that he supports the House version of the budget.
HCAOA is actively monitoring these developments and will keep members updated as the situation evolves. It is important for all members to be informed while also being aware that the legislative process for the budget is in the very early stages of negotiations.

As a relatively new home care agency, we made a decision to pivot toward supporting Medicaid clients, an important segment of our community. Today, plainly stated, our agency plans to continue our work to service Medicaid business and if necessary we'll be agile and quickly pivot back if we learn it doesn't support a healthy, high quality agency.
