The 2024 National Home Care Conference was another record breaker, with nearly 700 attendees and a sold-out exhibit hall! Attendees and exhibitors alike raved about the dynamic keynote speakers and the thoughtful content of the breakout sessions. If you attended and have not completed the brief survey, please click here to provide feedback so we can begin planning for next year’s event. The first day of the conference opened with a dynamic keynote by John O'Leary, who energized attendees with his inspiring story. O'Leary took attendees on an epic journey through the catastrophic burns he suffered over his entire body at just nine years old. He defied the odds and encouraged attendees to model change that will make a difference in your patient's and staff's lives, reiterating that life is a precious, priceless gift and we should say "Yes" to being used for good.
The rest of the day was filled with deep dives into hot topics, from building an efficient office team to redefining aging services. Each session left attendees eager to implement fresh ideas and strategies in their agencies. The General Session led by Todd Austin, COO of Activated Insights, "From Data to Dollars: Maximizing Revenue with Home Care Benchmarking—A Panel Discussion," was a big success and offered valuable insights into unlocking your own found money opportunities. The excitement continued on the final day with a unique “Technology Forum: How AI, Voice, and Other Tech Is Changing the Face of Care at Home,” moderated by Ginna Baik, Director of Age Tech at Yahoo/AOL, with use case demos from Caring Senior Services, Speak2, Sensi.ai, and Visiting Angels. Attendees learned from agencies currently integrating AI and voice-activated response systems into their businesses. The session offered practical insights and valuable takeaways. The conference closed with the Annual Business Meeting and a year-in-review led by HCAOA President Margaret Haynes and HCAOA CEO Jason Lee. With the new year, there will be a change in leadership as Margaret Haynes will step down as HCAOA President. Lee acknowledged Hayne's exceptional leadership over the past year, and the association eagerly anticipates Matt Kroll, HCAOA Vice President, stepping into the role of President. Lee closed out the meeting with a look forward to 2025. So much has been accomplished, but there is much more to be done, and with your continued support, we can continue advocating for the home care industry. During the conference, Adam Healy of McKnights Home Care interviewed HCAOA CEO Jason Lee and HCAOA VP of Government Relations on topics ranging from HCAOA's key policy priorities for 2025 and how the presidential candidates' home care proposals have provided an opportunity to elevate the industry, to the importance of tech in the home care space.
