All providers are invited to participate in CMS’ Open Door Forum on Tuesday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m. for an overview of the home and community-based services (HCBS) provisions in the Ensuring Access to Medicaid Services Final Rule, including a deeper dive on what is commonly referred to as the “HCBS payment adequacy provision.” This provision of the final rule requires that within six years, states generally ensure a minimum of 80% of Medicaid payments for homemaker, home health aide, and personal care services be spent on compensation for direct care workers furnishing these services, subject to certain flexibilities and exceptions.
The agenda includes Alissa Deboy, Director of the Medicaid Benefits and Health Program Group (CMCS), and Jill Darling, CMS Office of Communications (OC). In addition to the overview of the HCBS provisions in the Ensuring Access to Medicaid Services Final Rule, CMS will provide an overview of related reporting requirements. After the overview, CMS will pose a series of questions, and stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide information to CMS that will help inform the implementation of this provision.
