The Senate Regulatory Reform Committee adopted its version of a paid sick leave bill, Senate Bill 15, last week, and the bill is set to be debated in a Senate Regulatory Affairs Committee today, February 12.

AxisCare recently released the results of their Future of Home Care: A 2025 Survey of the Home Care Industry & Future Trends. The survey, conducted by Leading Home Care, a Tweed Jeffries company, surveyed over 250 U.S.-based home care agencies in 2024. The research highlights key industry trends, including ongoing challenges and emerging shifts in the future of home care.

Bayada Home Health Care is expanding its Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) service line. They recently opened a new center in Wall, NJ, dedicated to treating children diagnosed with autism, and will also provide care in home, school, and community settings. The center offers support to clients transitioning back home and provides family treatment guidance, helping caregivers respond to the needs of loved ones with autism.
The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) reported last month to the legislature’s General Law Committee that its investigations division conducted 68 audits of homemaker-companion agencies (HCAs) in 2024. Department officials continue to find violations related to contracts and service agreements, advertising claims related to healthcare or other services requiring a credential, failure to indicate they are solely providing nonmedical care to clients, and failure to perform proper background checks.
The HCAOA Advocacy Team is in Washington D.C. this week meeting with members of Congress to discuss potential changes to tax policy to support the home care industry and the people it serves. Congress has indicated a willingness to extend tax cuts passed during President Trump's first term and implement new tax policies in 2025, so now is a critical time to discuss tax policy solutions related to home care. These efforts align with one of HCAOA’s key policy priorities for 2025, aiming to enhance access to quality care and address the financial challenges faced by families and people served by home care providers.
